Rannsóknamiðstöð Íslands (The Icelandic Centre for Research) has awarded ALVAR the corporate growth grant Vöxtur. The application was carried out under ALVAR’s previous name: D-Tech ehf. The grant aims to support development projects at the early stages of concept, having a duration of two years for an amount of up to 50 million Icelandic Krónur. ”These are exciting news for ALVAR and we are very positive about the potential output of this project” says Guðmundur Sigþórsson, CEO of ALVAR ehf. ”This grant highlights that our company is on the right track, proposing innovative ideas with great added value”. Many aspects of the applicants’ projects have been considered by the Rannís’ Board for deciding the grant. Elements like state of the knowledge, novelty, potential positive environmental impact and possible market opportunities are essential during the evaluation of the application. Lukas Peciulaitis, Head of Engineering at ALVAR, remarks on the promising outlook of this new system: ”The project involves a technological solution that allows the disinfection of refrigerated shipping containers by applying mist. This could open the door to a future application of the renowned ALVAR Mist in the cargo and transport industry”. Lukas Peciulaitis.
